Lillian Samuelsson

The protagonist and main character of the story as is told from her perspective. She is the oldest child of the Samuelsson family at 19 years of age. She has her heart set on keeping with her family and building a new life in the land before them. As she discovers the future before her she feels a calling to midwifery and is often found seeking the Lord's answer to her future in life. And yet along this steady path will come a handsome young man named Joseph Landes.


Alias Samuelsson

As the father and caretaker of his family, Alias prides himself in loving his wife and three children. No greater thing would bring him more joy than to show his family the love of our Father God. His dream has always been to go west. But all that is before him is the promise of a farm in the vast Appalachian foothills. He's holds to the secret promise that one day his children and perhaps even his grandchildren will forge out a new life the western frontier.
