Plot

In the late 1800s in southern North Carolina, Alias Samuelsson and his wife Ginger have long since dreamed of moving farther west. But no opportunity has ever presented itself until now. With provisions now in place, the couple along with their three children set out to move west... Specifically to the Appalachian foothills. No, it's not the West. But Alias dreams that one day his children may indeed go farther west than even he has dreamed of going.

Upon their travels, the small family find themselves accompanied with the help of a wandering stranger who is indeed also searching for a place to call home. Joseph Landes finds a welcoming family in that of the Samuelsson's and accompanies them on their journey.

Once settled in Lylesburg, Tennessee, many events make up the time in which they must remember and be thankful to God for bringing them through. It is a time of love, tears, and hope as reunions, schooldays, and even a subsequent love story help to bring the family together and remember the faith of the lands and future ahead of them.
